For some reason the Blogger App has always worked where I can post pics from my phone but it doesn't work anymore. I'm typing this to see if I can at least type without posting pics.

Dr. Seuss week 2017
Well I am saddened because Jack told me this was the last Dr. Seuss week celebration, because he is a big boy and will be in 5th grade next year. We had to make it 4th grade fun for Jack,so we read the Butter Battle Book. Then Jack did a fun Dr. Seuss word search. Then we made butter with a jelly jar, heavy whipping cream and a lot of shaking. We tried the bread butter side up and butter side down. We both agree that bread is better with the butter side up. We watched a video of how the cream becomes butter when the fat molecules combine together during the shaking. Jack learned what hydraphylic and hydrophobic mean. He also learned about fat solubility. The butter would have been better with a little salt. We then did a fun engineering activity for our 1 hour Dr. Seuss celebration. In the butter battle book, they launched things at each over a wall. So we of course learned about simple machines and then we made a catapult out of rubberbands, popsicle sticks and a spoon. Then we made guesses as to how many centimeters, inches or feet they would go. Then we measured the distances. We launched stale mini marshmallows. Our dog Maya was the cleanup crew, she even caught a marshmallow in mid-air. At the end of the celebration Jack said, Well I might want to celebrate Dr Seuss week next year too.

Jesus Prom 2017
I was the chaperone for the two love birds again. Cathy and Kevin both sat in the backseat while I chauffeured them to dinner and then to the prom. I wasn't even allowed to sit with them at dinner. They had a friend there on a date too and her Mom wasn't aloud to sit with them either,so I ate dinner with her. The two shunned chaperones. They had a blast dancing together of course. They are so sweet together.

February Happenings
What a blur February has been. The weather has been nice so instead of boring, lazy winter days indoors, we have been busy and outside. Jack went to the homeschool Valentine party at the glow golf place,we made a monster box. Jason cooked me shrimp stir fry for Valentine's day and bought me flowers. I went to a Zen garden class at the library that week and Jack had young inventors club too. They did a science experiment with baking soda and vinegar and played with robots and marble runs. We played this cheesy game called Speak Out. It was embarrassing, but a lot of fun. We had some friends come over for dinner. I did science experiments with the kids, then Paula and I went to a movie while the fellas babysat. At the end of the night I finally got to snuggle with the kids. Then the next day,it was 70 degrees so Jack met some friends at the jump pillow. It was an unusually warm February and we took full advantage of it.

I had girl talk with Jen, we played with Izzy,Izzy helped open up her soon to be baby brother's gifts, Jen and I went out to dinner while Geoff and Jack watched Izzy and played video games. I even got to wear my new lularoe leggings.
Then later that week I went to a free art class at the library . It was so much fun.

Super Saturday's
I'm so proud of Jack
He has stepped out of his comfort zone and has signed up for a STEM-TASTIC Breakout class at WKU. Here is the description:Can you and your team successfully put your heads together to solve a series of scientific and mathematical mysteries in order to "break out" before times runs out? You’ll need problem-solving skills, creativity, and lots of tenacity to work your way through the tricky clues, brain-bending codes, and daring experiments in order to escape!
He was excited. I can't wait to see how the class went. Cathy and I went to eat lunch at Chili's then to walk track at a Church while Jack was in class.

Winter fun
We have done some fun things this winter since the weather hasn't been so bad. Jack and I always have a blast at the monster truck show. We have been having lots of family game nights. My fellas are super competitive with each other . Jack and I also finished our winter reading logs and celebrated with new books, dvd's and cd's from the library, and we played Legos and picked up some crafts at the craft table. I made an oragami bookmark while Cathy was reading her story from speech class to me,then we worked on math, not her favorite, but she gets it done. I went to the Bunco dirty Santa party and then a few weeks later a Bunco party, so fun to eat, drink, chat and play a game with the girls. Jack graduated from white belt to yellow belt in kungfu. He was so proud and we were too. He went to his friend's swim party at the Preston center on WKU campus too. He loves that campus. He can't wait for his STEM-TASTIC class to start soon. This will be his first WKU Super Saturday's classes for talented and gifted kids. This kid amazes me every day. You always worry that you are failing as a parent and/or homeschool parent, but when he knows things that a 4th grader shouldn't know yet but does,it makes me happy. He has even started asking me if he can read over the required 20 minutes per day and to do extra science and Spanish. He wowed my Mom this past weekend when he beat her at the game Hangman and with the word plasma. Then he went on to tell Nana that plasma is the 4th element of matter. I'm so proud of him. He also did real well during Star Science Camp at the library and few weeks ago.
Lastly,it is hard to find clothes for my size,I'm at the cusp of being plus size. 12 is too small and 14 is sometimes too big. Thank goodness A-line and baby doll clothing made a comeback and it doesn't look like leggings and boots are going anywhere. I love this online store called the Mint Julip Boutique and I get a lot of my clothes there.
