Craft time

I had the chance to make a few cards last week. They were just quick and simple cards , but it felt good to get in my craft room and make something. The first one was for a co-worker  turning 60  and the  next card was for my friend's  birthday. Plus  I cut up a photo calendar  my Mom made for me so I could use the pictures to Smashbook with but that is as far as I got. At least next time I want to craft , I  will photos ready.

Snowed In

Well I did not plan on being off for a week or 10 inches  of snow  one day and 3 inches the next with  it turning to ice on the 3rd day.  I had to keep Jack on task as far as school is concerned plus keeping up with  the cooking and cleaning , the dog  and playing  in the snow. Let's  just say I am exhausted and so ready to get back to work. We have had fun though. We have played , measured the volume  of water  in snow , the salt and ice cube string experiment, made snow cream , made snow  art (with water , food coloring  and squirting guns ), caught snowflakes on dark paper and examined them with the magnifying  glass ,boiled water and threw  it in 1 degree weather and watched as it turned to ice.

Happy Heart Day!

Valentine's  day homeschool party  was awesome.  In between lessons we did, a valentine word scramble, a love word maze ,  cool candy  science  experiments ,  a conversation  heart sling shot  ,  Q tip  blow dart game and puzzles. Then we baked a valentine heart cake  and made cherry sprite drinks. Normally Jack gets a 20 minute video game break after each  of the 3 two hour sections ,but today he had fun valentine activities  for breaks and he did not complain  once about missing his electronic devices . It was a successful  day. Then we all exchanged valentine's.  Jack draw me a beautiful  robot picture and gave Jason some caramel  popcorn.  I got Jason a massage gift certificate. I got candy , flowers, a new camping  lantern  and a sweet letter from Jason. He has always been great at sweet letters.

Neighborhood gross out

It is a beautiful 60 degrees and sunny compared  to the below 30's and windy that it has been. We adopted our wonderful  dog Maya 2 years  ago (they thought she was 2 already) so we celebrated her 4th birthday today. She had her shots this morning. To make up for the shots she received  bacon , a new bone  and a new ball oh my.  We played outside  with  the new ball for a while then we went on a 1 mile walk  through  the neighborhood . I was a little disturbed  by what I saw.  On our walk we found  2 pairs of used and dirty underwear , a pair of socks ,  a shirt , a pair of pants and several empty beer cans and Gatorade  bottles.  I was a little  scared and kept expecting to see naked and intoxicated  people  running  around , but it never happened. Lol. I bet there is a wild story there.
