More fall break

The rest of Jack's trip with my Mom involved him getting to steer the boat down the river. They road the Duc. They went back to my Mom's for the nightThen Mom dropped Jack by the office I work at  , at the end of the day and we went to Culvers for dinner then met Aiden for the Lego club  then Sonic for shakes.  The next day we went to a school day performance of the musical "Little Shop of Horrors". The high school students did an amazing job. Then we went to Chaney's Dairy Barn to do the corn maze and we only got lost twice this time and it took us 45 minutes.  Then we went to the drive in with Jack's cousins and Aunt. We saw the Box Trolls and A Dolphins Tale 2. I hope Jack appreciates how adventurous I am and how much energy I have.

Fall break first half

My in laws were going to be out of town and they watch Jack for 1 hr in the morning, 4 days a week ,so my Mom watched him this week. We just made this week his fall break.  We all love the flexibility of homeschool and Jack is compliant with making up days if we need to , even if it's on a Saturday.  My Mom has kept him at her house several times but has never taken him on a vacation without me. She decided to take him to Chattanooga for 3 and a half days. He had a blast. They went to the Chattanooga Choo choo ,the aquarium and the children's science museum , a breakfast buffet (which Jack loved, swimming in the indoor pool and site seeing.

Kentuckian

This day was awesome but it wasn't that Jack and I went on a heritage tour and a cave tour , it was that this was Jason's idea.  Those of you that know my husband knows that he never likes to leave the house unless he has to.  Jack thought the cave was awesome and he saw the campsites on the way out and he asked me "when are we going to camp here"? I told him that I have a tent and I was just waiting for him to want to go. My Mom has him spoiled taking him camping in cabins and he said he didn't want to tent camp . Well now he has changed his mind. Yay. We will go camping sometime this month.  We set the brand new tent up in the backyard to make sure it had everything it was supposed to come with and that I knew how to set it up and bring it back down.  I can't wait. Some of my favorite memories as a child were when we went camping.

KY down under

We went on our first all day field trip Friday to KY Down Under. Jack had a blast ,he fell asleep pretty quickly on the drive home.  We spent about 20 minutes every day this week learning about Australian animals ,so Jack was ready , interested and excited.  Out of everything we did and saw , it surprised me that his favorite was the laughing kookaburra. I think my favorite was the female grey kangaroo with the Joey in her pouch and the ring tailed lemurs.  All in all a great first field trip . Jack and I discussed what we would see and review what we learned about Australian animals on the trip up there and we would have reviewed on the way back but he was asleep.  We also got to do the Onyx cave tour ,which was super fun and he got to see his friends that he made from the homeschool PE group and meet new friends too.

Playtime

Last weekend, we went to Jackson's Orchard.  They didn't have all of their fall stuff out yet but we had a blast. They have a lot to do and eat but our favorite is an apple cider slush float, so good. Jack liked everything.  Cathy and I enjoyed feeding the animals.  I try to sneak in education when I can. They had the apple sorter machine and apple smasher for cider turned on ,so Jack went up to the owner and asked "can you explain how this works , please , I'm curious". I'm so happy that he is excited about learning again.
