Chaney's Dairy Barn

Jack and I went to Chaney's Dairy Barn on Saturday, we met Melissa, Gracie, Deanna and Ezra there. Jack had fun swinging, riding the little tractor and milking the fake cow (yes you could actually milk it, water came out).   It was such a hot day, the kids played outside a little bit then we went to see some animals.  We got to meet Norman the calf, then we saw some bunnies.  It was too hot to stay out too long so we got some ice cream, then Jack fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yay! I had a wonderful birthday party on Saturday and my Mom, stepdad, brother, and best friend came up and my father-in-law grilled out and he made steak. I got to eat a wonderful meal and spend time with my friends and family.  I got a yummy mint chocolate chip ice cream cake.  I opened presents and we went swimming.  All in all I had an awesome 31st birthday.  For some reason I had a problem turning 30 , but had no problem at all turning 31.

Card Time, Yay!

I got the chance while Cass was here to stamp some of the flowers from her new stamp set and I decided to just make some stamped background papers using differnt ink colors. This first card I made was with the flower backround I made with Cass's stamp and she gave me a pretty stamp set with sentiments, flowers and butterflies for my birthday, so I just had to use my new set. I did the rock and roll stamp technique with the butterfly stamp and stamped it in blue first then rolled it in pink.  Then I used my doily lace punch to create a ribbon look with paper, I edged it in blue ink then added pretty pink dots.  I will definitely use the rock and roll technique with my stamps again, I like the way it looks.

My next card was made with that awesome paper from the green stack, and some rak'd owl stickers, the sentiment is from my new set that Cass got me and the decorative corners was in a sticker set, also from Cass.  Once again Cass, thanks for coming to see me and thank you for my birthday presents, I can tell I am going to get a lot of uses out of this stamp set. It says " Precious and few are friends like you", but the ribbon is kind of covering up the bottom of the last words.

This last picture is Jack modeling his new cow backpack, he just looooves cows.

Fun with a friend

Cass and Noah came up for a visit yesterday.  It was soooo much fun, we took the boys for a golf cart ride to go visit Jason's cousin's horse "Trooper", we went to check out what will be our new house when it is finished, we went swimming, and finally after the boys were kind of tired we got to the card making.  The boys played with toys and watched cartoons so we could card.  Noah was really well-behaved, Jack on the other hand was a big bully, but after a while they started getting along.  Cass took some super cute pics of us and the scrap table and Jack swimming.  The first time we met, we just talked and she stamped some images, the 2nd time we stamped and each made 2 cards and yesterday we made 5 cards, so next time we are shooting for 6 cards. haha

the messy craft table

our 5 cards we made.

This first card is pretty simple, it was a digi freebie, I think it is called cherry blossom, I am not sure. this paper is from Nana's Nursery Baby girl stack by DCWV. I colored the image with my watercolor pencils, and used my nesties to cut out the oval and the scalloped oval.

It's another digital freebie stamp, and that same cute Nana's Nursery paper stack and I used my, prisma color markers and stickles to color the image.  Cass made this bow and decided not to use it on her card so I did. I still cannot make bows even after giving me a tutorial and showing me in person , I still cannot make bows. Ugh I made this card for my hubby's cousin Heather, her birthday is coming up and it just made me think of her because before she became a Mom she used to hang out at bars with her friends and drink bud light so Heather this Bud's for you. haha

This card is for the Mojo Monday Blog Challenge and this wonderful paper is The Green Stack which is 70% recycled paper by DCWV.  I just had to get this stack after I saw some of the cards that Ivy made with the paper.  This image was rak'd to me by my good friend Heather.  I just love the rich blue color on this card.

Papertake weekly challenge

For the papertake weekly challenge this week, you had to use a digital image on your card.  For my card I chose this awesome pirate dinosaur image and pirate ship background by Dustin Pike.  I love his digi images, and my son's 3rd birthday is going to be a pirate theme so I thought I would try this to see how time consuming it would be to color all these backgrounds for his party invites.  I used my BICs and watercolor pencils.

Cute summer pics

Jack is super strong and really wanted to pull his cousin in the wagon and he did, up the driveway and down twice until Alek got bored.

Jack loves cars and trucks.

He loved the fire truck tent at his Nana's house.

Jack has had a lot of fun this summer so far.

Blog Awards

I recieved 2 really sweet blog awards from Norma.

It is now my turn to pass on the blogs that I love, I do love Norma's blog I am on there at least once a week but I don't think I am supposed to send the award back to her so I'll just pick some different ones.

1. Callie

2. Christa

3. Shannon

4. Jenn

The rules that go with this lovely award are to:
a) Thank the person who gave it to you.
b) List 10 honest things about yourself.
c) Pass the award on to 7 people.
So here we go-

I would like to think Norma for thinking of me.

10 things

1.I love being at home and spending time with my family

2. I love paper crafting

3.I can't stand it when people clear there throat and I'm not just talking about a little cough or something, that nasty drainage noise.  Uh, I can't take it.

4. I am very neat and organized, but wished that I had time to clean more often, I do the best I can working and having a 2 year old, but I remember how much my Mom cleaned when I was little and I don't clean nearly that often.

5. I love cheesy tabloid gossip magazines

6. I wished that I could only work 2 days a week instead of 4, but I'm sure everybody wishes they could work less.  I shouldn't complain, most people have to work 5 days a week and I just work four.

7.I wish I had more time to craft but Jack is soooo clingy now, he hardly lets me out of his sight.

8. I wish I enjoyed cooking but I just don't.  I do it cause I don't want my family to eat out all the time, but it is not fun for me.

9. I always wished that I had red hair, I am fair complected and I have rosy cheeks so I just look better as a redhead, I think.  I used to put that stuff that washes out in 30 days to make me a redhead but I haven't done it in years.  Plus having red hair makes the green  in my hazel brown/green eyes really pop.

10. Most of my friends live in another state, granted it's TN and it's only an hour away but I wish they were closer.

I pass this on to.
1. Heather

2. Cass

3. Sanwanya

4. Anna

5. Jess

6. Ivy

7. Lisa

Simple card in a water theme

So there is a cute sketch this week on card makin Mama's on cafemom and I automatically thought of this water paper and rak'd fishy friends image I had.  I used my waterfall border punch.  I colored the image with my water color pencils and used my waterfall stickles on the jellyfish bubbles.  Since a them here, haha it's water.  Kind of simple but Jack only gave me about a 12 minute window to create a card today.

Stampin for the Weekend blog challenge

Well I was pressed for time today since it's Father's Day, so I only had a chance to make one card today but I had 4 challenges that I wanted to do and I know it's kind of bad to combine challenges but this is the first time I have done it, so I don't feel too bad about it.

Here are the 4 challenges I made this card for:

The CCC challenge was to make your own background patterned paper and to have some stitching on the card, it can be faux stitching, which is what I chose since I can't sew. I have the stitching around the sentiment.   I made my background paper using a butterfly and flower stamp using 2 different shades of pink.  And of course you have to use a critter cause it is called the cute critter club.  I used butterflies and the huggabug has wings, so she counts.

The Addicted 2 bellas group on cafemom's challenge was to make a monochromatic card (different shades of the same color), I chose pink, and of course to use a stamp from stamping bella, I don't know this little huggabug's name because the image was rak'd to me.

The stampin for the Weekend Blog Challenge was to make a card by using a song title as inspiration, they had 3 songs listed, and I chose "A Whiter Shad of Pale",  so everything on my card is pale pink.

And for the 4th and final challenge is for a sketch challenge over on stamper's anonymous on cafemom.  A picture of the sketch is included.

Whew! that's a lot of challenges for one little card.

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge Blog

This card is for my father-in-law who loooooves golf, and this week the challenge for the Stamptacular Sunday Blog is to make a manly card.  I just made a simple gift card holder, I did get a little carried away with the green chalk ink, oops, but I still think he'll like it.  I tried to keep it simple since men don't like clutter on their cards, I just wish my ink hadn't smeared in a couple of places.  Here are 2 pictures, one with the gift card in it and one without:

a summer card

I made this card a few weeks ago and am just getting a chance to post it, it was for a challenge for the CCC on cafemom to make a summery card, I didn't have any summery stamps with animals on it (it is called cute critter club after all ), so I found this free digi image on Dustin Pike's awesome blog, he is such an awesome artist.  This card was supposed to be your best summer memory and my best memories were playing on the beach when we went to Florida to visit my Grandparents.  I really miss them, my Grandpa passed away right after I graduated from college and my grandmother has altzheimer's.  I colored the image using my BIC markers, and someone sent me this awesome summery patterned paper in a RAK, but can't remember who.

Another Wall Hanging

Gracie liked the room sign I made for her so much that I thought well I am going to make one for Connor.  Connor is the other dental hygienist's son (Amy from work), and he just turned one, so the sign is really more for Amy than for Connor, but I thought it ended up cute.  She liked it so much she went around to everyone in the office and showed it off, since this also happened the same day as my aweful migraine, I will say her excitement over the sign was the highlight of my day.

Here is the sign:  it is kind of hard for me to make boyish stuff cause girl stuff is just easier since I am one.  His room is blue and brown with puppies, so I tried to match his decor.

MIGRAINE! UGH!

So, I guess I had always thought I  had a few migraines in my life but now that I have had an actual migraine I now know that those were just intense headaches and not a migraine.  Wednesday I came down with either a cold or sinus problems, don't know which, probably a cold since my son and mother-in-law have colds.  Thursday I thought I was just dealing with a drippy nose while wearing a mask and leaning forward to clean someone's teeth, yes you can just use your imagine as to wear the drippy nose dripped to, lets just say I changed my mask often that day.  Then all of a sudden right in the middle of cleaning someone's teeth I lost complete vision in my right eye,  I made up some excuse about having to go check on their x-rays for a minute in the lab, then I ran to the bathroon and started flushing my eye with water, then I put eye drops in, I still didn't have vision, so I just sat in the bathroom in the dark for about 5 minutes.  I went back into my room and I had vision back so I finished cleaning his teeth, then after the Dr. checked him and he left, I was entering in the patient's notes into the computer and all of a sudden this fuzzy looking black and white circle thing appered whenever I looked at anything with my right eye, then it went to both eyes.  I went in and talked to the office manager, because I couldn't obviously clean teeth if I couldn't see, she said since my next patient cancelled to just rest my eyes until the next person showed up.  The other dental  Hygienist said that is what happens to her when she gets a migraine, and I thought oh great that is all I need (keep in mind I thought I had one before, so I thought it was just a strong headache).  So, I rested a little then my next patient which is my last one before lunch showed up and started cleaning her teeth and during the cleaning I got this intense splitting headache and I was so nautious that I thought I was going to throw up all over her, when I was finished I told her that I would be right back that I was going to get the Dr. to check her, well I was so dizzy when I got up that I had to hold onto the wall and for some reason instead of telling the Dr. I was finished I went right into the office manager's office and start balling my eyes out like a big baby cause I was in so much pain.  Now keep in mind that I am not one of those people that call out sick often, I mean heck I have worked with walking pnemonia before.  So I layed down on the dental chair in my room and curled up with the pillow and turned the light off and just cried, I thought I was gonna pass out.  Amy, the other dental hygienist came in and cleaned up my room and enetered in the patient's notes for me and said they were letting me go home and moved my patient's over to her chair and had to cancel a few, so she wouldn't have too many.  There was no way I could drive home, my vision was so blurry, and I was still dizzy and nautious, so I called Jason to come get me and he brought his brother with him to drive my car home.  I live about 20 minutes away from where I work, so while I was waiting on them I got even more sick and some how in my dizzy stupor stumbled to the bathroom so I could throw up twice.  Then finally when I got picked up and got home I looked at all of my prescriptions from my 3 surgeries last year and found one that was like a really strong aleve (anaprox), took it and fell asleep.  After my 4 hour nap it was all over and I hope to never have that happen again.  I really feel sorry for people like Amy that gets migraines often.  I looked up migraines on the internet and apparently I had a migraine with aura (loss of vision or blurriness) which is less common than a migraine without aura, and the triggers (there were several but I am just listing the ones I was probably exposed to)change in barametric pressure (we have had storms here lately), eating chocolate, taking birth control pills, and artificial sweeteners.  I am so scared now, cause I never want that to happen ever again.

That was what happened to me yesterday, today, no headaches, but the upper respiratory infection is still there.

Sorry this was so long, had to type it in sections whenever I felt good enought to type.

Inspirational Card Sketch Challenges Blog

I made a card for the ICS challenge, I used the sketch to make my friend Cass a birthday card.  I used a technique I saw on split coast stampers called crinkled chalk where you take crumpled up saran wrap and dip it in different colors of chalk ink to  create kind of a tie dyed looking background.  I liked the look so much that I left the card kind of plain.  I colred the image with my BIC markers, copics, and glitter gel pens.  I used glassy glaze on the crystal ball to give it that glass look.

Later that day Jack's friend Ethan came over for a playdate and they ate suckers and played outside, then later that day Jack's (2nd or 3rd) cousin Gracie and her Mom (Melissa, my hubby's first cousin) came over.  We played, then went on a golf cart ride to check out out house (in progress), we all went swimming, then played again, then ate some food and ice cream, then played again, and did some crafts.  It was an exhausting but really fun day.

Cute Baby Onesie Cards, and a pic of Jack

So, I decided to try this great tutorial by Lauren on how to make a baby onesie card.  After I made the first one the second one went pretty quickly.  I have several friends having girls soon, so I had to get started on making the cards.  And I am proud to announce that Jack is completely in a toddler bed.  The first night was rough, but he has gone down the first time for the past 4 nights.  Yay.  So, the picture of Jack you are looking at is my sweet boy falling asleep while watching Sponge Bob on our bed.  It was just a nap don't,have a cow Mom he is not going to sleep on our bed often. haha
