Well, it finally happened

Our son Jack absolutely loved his crib and never had the desire to crawl out of it, we thought wow we are super lucky that it has lasted this long, well it happened yesterday, and he is not in a crib anymore.

So Friday morning (keep in mind Jason is at work, so it is just me and Jack),  he made a few noises on the monitor, then it stopped, so I thought he went back to sleep.  Well I had gone back to sleep and a few minutes later  I am unpleasantly woken up by my 2 and a half year old blowing a whistle really loudly in my ear to wake me up.  So, apparently (keep in mind I had the monitor on), he silently climbed out of his crib, opened his door, went to his toys (in front of the tv), went through them, found his whistle, opened my door, climbed up in the bed, and really quietly got next to my ear and blew really hard on his whistle.  So needless to say we turned the crib into a day bed ( it is a 3 in 1 crib, day bed, toddler bed).

The afternoon it was near impossible to get him down for a nap, Jason finally got him down.

Then Friday night Jason plays games with his friends, so it was just Jack and I .  Lets just say I started trying to put him down around 8:30 (which is kind of late for him, but I let him stay up a little later on the weekend), he finally went down at 9:45 pm.  Well I read to him, I sang to him, I even layed on his bed with him and nothing worked.  I went and got a child safety gate and put it in his doorway, then closed the door, I thought he was down so I went into the kitchen to start folding the laundry on the table.  Then here comes my quiet stealthy son crawling towards me, peering from around the corner, spying on me to see what I was doing.  That means my sneaky child knew that he was doing something he wasn't supposed to, because he quietly opened his door, climbed over the gate, then shut his door (to make me think that he was still in there), then was sneaking around the corner to see what I was doing.  Ugh! I finally had to threaten to spank him to get him to go down.  I said I am going to count to 10 and if you are not in your bed by the time I get to 10 you are getting a spanking.  I very rarely spank my child, I have only had to do it twice.  Well when I got to 9 and a half ,he ran into his room, shut the door and got in his bed and stayed there.  That stubborn boy, waited till 9 and a half!

So, what time did he wake up this morning you ask, well at 15 minutes till 5:00 am, he cries, so I get up and he is meeting me at my door and I say it is still night night time, it is not time to get up yet, so I took him to the door and showed him how dark it was outside cause he didn't believe me.  Then I did the unspeakable.  I have always prided myself in the fact that I have never let Jack sleep in bed with us, cause they say if you start that, it is a hard habit to break.  Well at 5:00am, I did the only thing a completely exhausted bleary eyed Mom would do, yep I took him to our room and tucked him in bed between us.  I didn't know if it would work or not.  Sure enough he slept for 2 more hours.  I hope this doesn't last too long and he gets the hang of sleeping in his day bed soon, but until then coffee is my best friend.

Hey at least he picked the weekend to start this, right.

Yay, 3 cards, simple though

So I was at my Mom's last Saturday and after I decorated the front of her address book, I made 3 quick and easy cards.  I don't bring a lot of stuff when I go to Mom's so my craft supplies were limited.  The first card is a cute image rakd by my friend Heather and I finally got around to using the cute image, the ribbon was rak'd too, but I don't remember by who.

The next card is with an image that I got when I was visiting my friend Cass.  It is hard to tell but the vellum sticker says "celebrating with friends", the prima flower was from my A2B secret sister, and I used my watercolor pencils to color the image.

The last card I used my cuttlebug, nesties, and lots of stickles.

Decorated address book

So, Jack and I went to my Mom's this past Sunday, Jack played with his Nana and I got to make some cards while I was up in her craft room.  My mom said that she wanted an address book that has the rings like a binder so you can add pages.  I found this little black leather one at Target and decorated it while she played with Jack.  I knew what her favorite colors were and that her favorite T.V. shows were the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, so I thought this image was perfect.  I used my gold ink to stamp family and 2 birds to decorate the lower portion of the book.  I used my nesties, copics, prisma markers, and BICs.

A Birthday Party at the park

Sorry this post is very picture heavy, but there were just so many cute ones, I couldn't resist.  Jack and Ethan road on the horses, went swinging and played on the slide and the tire swing.  Everyone ate pizza and ate Blues Clues cake, then watched Ethan open presents.  Jack found a whistle in his goodie bag and discovered that he can make a loud shrill noise with his whistle over and over again.  He really loves that whistle.

He is scooter cutie

So, Jack has discovered his cousins razor scooters, and while he still doesn't quite understand how to push the pedals on big-wheels, he can totally ride on the scooter.

Card Positioning Systems Blog Sketch

This week over in Card Positioning Systems they are being sponsored by stamping bella, so I knew that I needed to make a card for the sketch ( I just can't pass up an opportunity to win some stamping bella goodies)  I needed to make a Graduation card for a co-workers son that is graduation from High School and his colors are red, white and blue, so that is why the card looks kind of patriotic.  I kept it kind of simple since it is for a guy.  There is a glare from the flash at the bottom, but it reads, class of 2009.

pool party

We all went to a pool party last weekend,  Jack loved sliding down the kiddie slide, and he really wanted cake, then he finally got some cake.  A few days before that Jack stayed at his Nanna's house and she took some cute pics of him playing in her flowers.

3 cards and a birthday party

So I had a chance to do some carding this week.  The pink flower card is similar to the Mojo Monday blog sketch, but slightly different.  I colored the flower images using stickles and was rak'd the pretty pink/white gingham paper.  I used my scallop/waterfall punch.  I haven't added a sentiment yet, cause I will just add it when I figure out who it will go to.

The next card I made with some pretty rak'd paper, the butterfly bella image was from a swap, I colored her using my copics and BICs. The hello sentiment and birds are from a dollar stamp set from Joann's.

This next card is for a sketch challenge in the CCC on cafemom.  I decided I needed to start making some Father's Day cards and I was rak'd this image a long time ago and finally decided to use it.  The inside of the card is something I saw in a card magazine I bought recently, it is a gift card holder.  I didn't have the gift card yet so I just put a random card in it.

Mojo Monday

This is the first time that I am doing a blog challenge, woo hoo, it is exciting

The challenge is from the Mojo Monday Blog

and here is my interpretation of that sketch, I finally got to use a ketto that I recieved in an image swap.

Yellow and blue are 2 colors that I never use together, so I thought I would give it a try.

Petting Zoo and a card

So, this last Saturday, Jack and his friend Ethan went to the petting zoo at Snodgrass Vet Clinic.  There was a bouncy house, face painting, balloons, and lots of animals.  Jack was in an aweful grumpy mood that day and wanted to be carried the whole time, and my back just couldn't take it, so fortunately Mandie had an extra umbrella stroller in her car.  I dropped my camera and it shattered.  I have had this camera for 5 years, got it on Black Friday for only $60.00, it was my first ever digital camera, and it was definately easy to use, but you couldn't take good up-close pics. So, as kind of a last minute Mother's Day present, I got to order a new camera.  I ordered a Cannon powershot from Walmart.com, it was on sale for Mother's Day.  Well it came today and I got the chance to tinker with and use it tonight.  WOW, you can actually see detail on the card and the pic is not blurry.  I am soooo loving my new camera.

The first pic is of Jack and Ethan at the petting zoo (doesn't Jack look huge in that tiny umbrella stroller) and the other pics are of the card I made for a chalenge in the CCC on cafemom

Woot, I finally made a card!

It's a Boy

A girl in one of the card groups I'm in from cafemom, just had a baby boy a few weeks ago and I am finally getting around to sending her a card.  I got a group of these trifold cards with the scalloped edges from my ss from the addicted 2 bella group, in some bright colors.  I thought this pretty blue went well with the bright blue BIC marker that I have.  I brought it all together with this sparkly yellow, green and blue paper left over from a card kit swap that I was in.  It is a pretty simple card, but I didn't want to overpower the adorable image from my friend Callie, with a lot of embellishments.  I hope Mamapass likes her card when she finally gets it.

My brother-in-laws wedding

Despite the rainy, cold weather, the wedding was absolutely beautiful.  I just loved all the table settings and colors.  Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of Jack (the ring bearer) walking down the aisle because my hubby was the best man and I had to practically walk Jack down.  There is a picture of Jack and Gracie waiting their turn to walk down.
